In exploring several topics on Freedom in Christ and Deliverance from demonic oppression, I feel so inclined to dedicate today’s post to freedom from limiting mindsets. So, let’s get all the way into it…
What are Limiting beliefs?
Simply put, limiting beliefs are thoughts, opinions that a person believes to be the absolute truth, however these beliefs aren’t based on facts. In the Christian world, it is often explained as having a distorted view of oneself or believing something contrary to what God says about you.
It is safe to say the devil spends a copious amount of time to ensure that people hang on to beliefs that stops them from progressing personal, professionally and in all other spheres of life. The enemy is very aware of this truth in Proverbs 23:7(KJV) which says, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”.
The devil also knows the important of consistently feeding a person with his “lies” knowing as some point, that individual will imbibe these lies which then becomes a hard truth to that individual. A couple of examples of limiting beliefs are “Nobody cares about what I have to say” or “I could never be wealthy based on my background” etc.
The more of these lies a person believes, the more stifled the person will be, simply because we typically cannot experience a reality we haven’t yet conceptualized first in our minds.
The good news in all of this is that God always outsmarts the enemy– every time! He has already told us what to do to proactively avoid the enemy’s traps of limiting beliefs. One way as stated in proverbs 4:23(NLT) is to ”Guide our hearts with all diligence because out of it flows the issues of life!” – isn’t God just awesome! In this passage of scripture, God is telling us that whatever we let into our hearts, is what will eventually come out of it! This also means that if we carelessly let the lies of the enemy go into our hearts, that is exactly how these limiting mindsets take a hold.
If you are reading this and are sure you are operating below God’s best for your life due to some lies of the enemy you have believed, know that God has already shared the solution with us in his word.
One thing I love about God is that he knows all the tribulations and hard things we all would ever encounter on the face of earth, and he has lovingly provided solutions for us – in his word!
Another practical solution from the word of God to Free you from Limiting beliefs is found in 2nd Corinthians 2:10:4-5(ASV) which says “Certainly, the weapons of our warfare are not those of the flesh, but weapons made powerful by God for tearing down strongholds. We tear down thoughts…” – this means that we can simply command those limiting thoughts to be torn down by the power of God. The verse goes on to say we should “Cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”. As you see from these two verses, there are practical actions that must be taken to break free from the stronghold of limiting beliefs.
Lastly, it goes without saying that we ought to actively and proactively meditate and ponder on God’s word, this is another important action to replace all the lies the devil has told us with the truth of the word of God. As stated in Joshua 1:8(KJV) “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” God desires that all his children live in freedom and experience good success in life.
I truly desire freedom for you in all areas of your life, and hope that as you take these practical, principled steps to freedom, you are taking a stand, drawing a line in the sand, and partnering with God to fulfil his will for your life and family. Make sure you place the order for the “Freedom Experience” for more insight on breaking all forms of bondage – you won’t be disappointed.
